Dubai, U.A.E. & Doha, Qatar - Royal Philips Electronics (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG) is hosting a seminar titled 'The Philips Arena Solutions Conference', taking place in Qatar on the 23rd of May, inviting key stakeholders such as engineers, architects and specifiers to attend a session on Philips' sports lighting solutions.
Professional sport is the world's biggest entertainment industry and lighting plays a huge role in enhancing the excitement and drama, as well as enabling sportsmen and women to perform at their very best. Philips Lighting organizes this event to highlight their long pioneered lighting innovation in sports, from the 1952 Olympic Games in Oslo to the first Formula One (F1) night race hosted in Singapore and many more to date, including the Asian Games in Qatar and the FIFA Youth Club in the United Arab Emirates.
Since Philips' introduction of the innovative Arena Solutions, a sustainable lighting concept that is 40% energy efficient, Philips has equipped more than 65% of the world's major football stadiums. A prime example are the 6 out of 9 top stadiums in South Africa, where the 2010 World Cup took place, are now ranked internationally as the best-lit sporting stadiums.
"When designing lighting for world-class sporting venues, not only is it important to consider the needs of the sports people and referees, but also the spectators and viewers at home, creating the perfect conditions for film, photography and live broadcast, enabling camera crews to capture sharper images that comply with High Definition Television (HDTV) standards", says Paolo Cervini, General Manager of Philips Lighting Middle East.
Philips provides an integrated lighting and digital signage, substantially enhancing the spectators' experience in and around the stadium, inspiring them to arrive earlier, stay for longer and tell others how much they enjoyed the experience.
The Arena Solution concept, with its superior flexibility in creating the appropriate ambiance for each event, allows the stadium to become multifunctional, increasing the potential for revenue generation while simultaneously maintaining the arena at a minimal cost.
"Philips is the leader in sports lighting applications and a technical partner of international sports federations such as IAAF (athletics), FIFA (football), FIBA (basketball), ITF (tennis) and FIH (hockey). Through these partnerships, we are able to help draw up official specifications and guidelines for floodlighting in sporting venues. Philips can also create a unique experience in managing the complexity of multi-sports events and cares for the total lighting solution from design to commissioning", adds Paolo.
